Spending time offsite with co-workers enables discussions that most likely would not happen back at work. Being able to talk about real issues in an honest way builds trust and relationships. It is comforting for participants to know that they are not the only one wrestling with a particular issue.

Using a variety of techniques, small groups are formed to discuss, brainstorm and then present their ideas to the larger group. This process often results in a greater quantity and higher quality of ideas, and a feeling of ownership in actually making the ideas happen.
